First Blog: Introduction

My name is Ron and I am originally from Maine. I joined the Army about a year after high school in 1997. My job was Field Artillery and I was also Airborne. I have traveled all over the globe. My first time in Alaska was 2001 stationed at Ft. Richardson which is now JBER. I fell in love with it and changed my residence and knew I was going to retire here. I met my wife here as well. We have two boys and one girl. We also have an amazing exchange student from Japan, her name is Kei.

I enjoy all types of music from bluegrass, country music (the older stuff), and all types of rock and metal. I don't play a music at this time. I have always wanted to play the mandolin, but just can't seem to find the time or a teacher. I do enjoy concerts, live music is amazing. This weekend we listened to many bands at the State Fair.

  1. I love bluegrass music too. Not to mention New Grass music. I am currently working on a Haloween ukulele spoof with friends in Maryland who introduced me to the song - "Cabin of Death."

  2. I love the mandolin too. My sister used to play it but stopped because life got her too busy with school and work. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I have heard of the madolin before and I have seen people playing the insturment but I wasn't sure what you were talking about so I googled it. It looks like a very fun instrument to play. I hope you one day get the chance to persue it.
